Why should my business be on Google+? [infographic]

Love it or hate it, it seems as though Google+ is here to stay – Google seem to be moving towards pretty much everything being integrated with and revolving round it so it’s best not to ignore it.

But how can it help your business?

This nifty infographic from Chris Brogan helps you to understand a little more, and we’ve summarised some of it here:

Why Google + is the place to be:

  • It’s indexed by Google
  • It offers a cleaner experience
  • 60% of users log in every day
  • 80% engage on a weekly basis
  • Google+ has more than 90 million users and growing

In short, you can reach a huge amount of active people easily, as well as being indexed by Google.

What should you share?

It’s often difficult to think of what to share on a social network, but in this respect Google+ is much the same as any other social network.  You’re sharing with your target market, not with a platform, so don’t get hung up on the fact you’re in Google+.

Share:

  • Other people’s links and tips
  • Your ideas
  • Educational and informative information

Chris’s infographic says pretty much what we tell our clients when it comes to social media – treat your Google+ newsfeed like a magazine, putting out interesting information your readers would like to read. Remember that you’re endorsing everything you send out, so don’t put your name to anything you wouldn’t want associated with your brand.

How can you interact with your followers?

There’s no room to be shy on social media platforms and Google+ is no different!

There are many ways you could interact with your followers:

  • Share links that your followers have posted
  • If someone shares your link, thank them for it and maybe make a comment
  • Respond to comments on your post, and on other people’s posts
  • +1 their content and comments

How do you get it all done?

It’s easy to let social media take up all of your time, but this infographic gives some great tips for things that can be done in small amounts of time.

Even if you’re REALLY short of time we’d recommend taking 5 minutes to share a new post and 10 minutes reading and commenting on other people’s posts.

Why should you have a business page?

Business pages have been around for a while now but not everyone is using them to their full advantage.

Chris tells us business pages can be used for:

  • follower education
  • customer service
  • community building
  • sharing media

Some Google+ quick tips?

Some great quick tips:

  • build a relevant audience
  • quality over quantity
  • create a campfire
  • be selective
  • be consistent
  • WE ARE WHAT WE SHARE

Used properly, Google+ could be a valuable addition to your social media marketing strategy and this infographic is a great step towards understanding it.
